Unlike glitzy Miami, Fort Lauderdale is totally laid back and relaxed with a beach town vibe. We love to spend a few days in Lauderdale to start our vacation before we cruise out of Port Everglades.
There are loads of great restaurants and bars across the street from the beaches along A1A / Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. Sebastian is the lively and unpretentious gay beach. There are some clothing-optional resorts if that's your thing. While all of Fort Lauderdale is warm and welcoming, the distinguished gay area is Wilton Manors:
