Dallas, Texas... Big D!

We lived in Dallas for 12 years and the last 6 years of that was in the Cedar Springs gayborhood.  Dallas has a thriving LGBTQ+ community and is a wonderful place to visit and reside.

• The gayborhood is known as Cedar Springs or Oaklawn, but you'll feel at ease most anywhere you are in Dallas (not just the gayborhood)
• Most of the gay bars, shops and restaurants are concentrated together on The Strip on Cedar Springs Road
• Our favorite bar is the Round-up Saloon... #1 Country Western gay bar in the world... Come as you are... All are welcome!
• Two-stepping and line dancing on the weekends until midnight... Bump-bump music after that
• Turtle Creek Chorale (Dallas Gay Men's Chorus)
• Major annual events:
  • Texas Bear Round-Up:  Third week of March... Since 1995, TBRU now raises and gives around $150,000 each year to local Dallas LGBTQ+ charities
  • Pooch Parade:  Easter Sunday at Lee Park... All dogs and their owners must be in complimenting costumes... Bearded men in highly-decorated Easter hats...
  • Dallas Pride:  June 1st & 2nd, 2024
  • Dallas Halloween Block Party:  Cedar Springs Road is closed down and converted into a massive runway promenade for costumed revelers... One fabulous hot mess!
  • Black Tie Dinner:  Massive black-tie charitable fundraising event held in mid-November since 1982​
